Selected Verses:

Hebrews 1:1-2.  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Genesis 45:3.  And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

Acts 9:5.  And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

Opening:

How wonderfully that epistle to the Hebrews opens: “God hath spoken unto us by His Son,” not by some deluded professor of theology or philosophy or psychology—these liars that go through the world today to deceive people, to lie to them.  But God Almighty sent His only Son down from heaven—His Son by Whom He made all things, His Son that upholds all things by the word of His power.  Oh, Jesus Christ is great; the Son of God is great, Hallelujah!  And God has spoken to me by His Son, and He speaks to me today by His Son.  His Son is in my heart; He has come to dwell within me by the power of the Holy Ghost.

And in the second chapter, he says, “Therefore, we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.  How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?”  Do you know that people are being caught—not by a flood of molasses, but by a flood of demon power, by a flood of sin, by “the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life”?  And that alone is proof that they’ve sinned against God.  You couldn’t—God wouldn’t let you—get into sin if you didn’t sin against Him, if you bowed your heart to pay heed to His wonderful word—that Word of life that comes to me from the very heart of the Father through the heart of the Son.  “God hath spoken to us by His Son.”

Young man, young woman, that ought to settle your doubts and your “higher criticism,”—your doubts about creation.  Jesus Christ puts His seal upon the whole Old Testament, upon every word that’s contained in the Old Testament.  Jesus Christ emerges from the pages of the Old Testament.  He is the One that lives in the words of the prophets and of Moses.  He is the One that was foretold.

Selected Quotes:

speaker iconThe words that I speak unto you are spirit, and they are life,” and “they will judge you in that day.”  Praise God!  The words of Christ!  Why, today it’s a controversy among theologians: “Why, He didn’t mean what He said, and if He meant what He said, why, He didn’t know what He was talking about.”  That’s what they preach from pulpits.  No wonder the world’s full of dead churches.  No wonder the world’s full of apostate Christians, and you don’t know who you’re dealing with: the “sons of God,” full of lust, instead of being moved by the spirit of God, like Noah was “with godly fear to prepare an ark to the saving of his house.”

Oh, beloved, “God hath spoken to us,” thank, God.  He speaks to us tonight; He speaks to us all the time—God, God.  (…)  Oh, how deaf we can be! How hard of heart men can be!  They can come to meetings like this for years and not be changed.  It’s a seal of damnation.  It’s a seal of perdition.

speaker icon I said, “God, it can’t be.  Can people be lost forever?  Is it possible that eternal damnation is waiting, eternal punishment?”  I looked it up the Bible.  It says, “For them is reserved the blackness of darkness foreverIt’s a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God; it’s a fearful thing”!  Why is it that men are lost?  Because “the light came into the world and men loved darkness rather than the light.”  If you love the light, you’ll love Jesus.  You will.  And if you love Jesus, you’ll come to Him.  And when you come to Him, He will not cast you out.

speaker icon You can brag about your posterity today and prosperity today.  Tomorrow, you won’t have any.  Brag about your bank account today and about your fine cars and all that.  Don’t hang your heart on it; it’s going to be taken from you.  The more you have, the more you’ll lose.

speaker icon Beloved, tonight you can meet Him.  Tonight He is here as truly as you’ll meet Him in that day.  Jesus is here.  Jesus Christ is today in the world through the power of the Holy Ghost.

speaker iconRepent and be baptized and be filled with the Holy Ghost.”  And do you know how many are neglecting “so great salvation”?  … Oh, beloved, “God hath spoken unto us by His Son.”  Oh, it must grip your heart—it must!  If it cannot grip your heart, then you’re bad off.

German at 14:36:

From Ich habe nun den Grund gefunden, a hymn by Johann A. Rothe, 1727:

Dem jedes Mal das Herze bricht, Wir kommen oder kommen nicht.

Whose heart with pity still doth break Whether we seek Him or forsake.
