Healing Throughout Church History (1:02:37)
The first part of the talk includes commentary on and
readings from A. J. Gordon’s The Ministry of Healing, followed by a
review of healing in the name of Jesus in the book of Acts. Selected Quotes:
Beloved, why don’t we all get “feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace”? Why don’t we get these feet
and go out, and why don’t we get hands with power that we can “lay hands on the
sick and they shall recover”? Why don’t we? It’s because we just won’t pray
through about it. We’re just living shallow lives. We’re occupied, we’re like
Martha: we’re “careful and troubled about many things.” We don’t have time for
Jesus’ feet. Sure, it’s nice to have Jesus, you know—put Him on the top of the
church on a steeple or in a niche in the wall someplace. We have to have Him,
because how could we preach without Him? But that’s about all the use He is to
us. We’re all taken up with ourselves the rest of the time.
